Berkeley homes have started the redevelopment of the former Taplow Paper Mill alongside the River Thames, between Maidenhead town and Taplow Village.
The project hopes to deliver 199 new homes, a new restaurant, improved boat yard facility and large areas of enhanced open space (Planning ref:15.01039FUL).
P&D Environmental were appointed by Berkeley Homes, whom have recently demolished the Old Taplow Mill site, for redevelopment work. The Old Taplow Mill site has three intake sluices on the Jubilee Riverside of the site that require permanent sealing.
The scope of works was to install three temporary steel pre-fabricated blanking plates across the front of the intakes to allow for dewatering of the sluices and new concrete to be pored and formed behind.
This involved confined space divers working inside the sluices to remove the grill work, and divers working mid water in the river from a man riding basket, drilling and securing the steel former to the wall ready for pumping out or dewatering.
