Following a conditional survey undertaken by Aecom utilising our dive team, MMC Diving services were fortunate enough to win the tender to undertake the underwater welding works on the Wightlink freshwater ferry berth in Lymington New Forest, the project involved repairing holes within the sheet piles retaining wall and cleaning up all 88 tie rod bolts for a conditional survey, then welding on removable grease boxes to protect and lengthen the life of the wall as part of Wightlink's asset management plan.
Our seven-man strong cross trained team of rope access engineers and coded welders completed the project ahead of schedule saving time and money for our client enabling the freshwater berth to resume essential day to day activities.
This project involved tidal works, NDT thickness testing above and below the water welding and grinding, survey and report writing.
