    MMC complete emergency works to road landslip

    Following the subsidence of a road in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, MMC Rope Access team were called upon to attend and provide some mitigation measures to a cliff road that partly subsided with homes below, drilling and bolting mesh to the cliff face to control the subsidence.

February 2020 was the wettest February on record for UK, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, It has also been the fifth wettest of any calendar month in a series from 1862. These conditions have caused havoc all over the UK.

Belgrave road in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight had a sudden road collapse, homes were evacuated following the landslip and an emergency team from Ringway and Island Roads was set up around the clock to monitor the situation while keeping the curious public at a safe distance.

MMC Rope access team with TST drilling installed wire mesh over the effected area, this was bolted into the road using 3.0m anchors to try and provide some control over the landslip and mitigation measures over the potential collapse onto the homes below.
