Due to the fast flowing river, Network Rail required some scour protection around the piers. Aquatic Engineering designed a containment curtain to encapsulate the works.
Aquatic Engineering and MMC designed a deflector plate to divert 7000 cubic metres per second away from the working area, enabling works to be undertaken. This included fabricating the steelworks; installing Platipus Anchors; topside and underwater burning; welding; insulation of rock armor and weaving.
"Throughout working on the railway for the last 8 years, I have come across hundreds of small to medium size sub-contract organisations. The majority have been to a reasonable standard. I have to say the organisation that you run and operate is exemplary from the management, right down to the operatives. I also look forward to working with MMC on future projects. I will gladly recommend MMC to other major construction companies when attending safety forums."
