Island divers MMC have been lurking beneath the waters of Ryde's Waterside Pool undertaking essential re-grouting maintenance. Divers from MMC are working through the night to re-grout the pool. This is a long and laborious task which is fundamental to keep the pool open.
The Waterside Community Trust's cost is assisted thanks to match funding which has been secured.
Due to the proximity of the pool that was built right alongside a boating lake and within very close proximity to the sea, if it were to be emptied and the works carried out there was a high risk of the pool popping out of the ground.
This combined with the pools age and the state of the grout; it was purely the pressure of water in the pool that was holding the tiles in place, it's very common with old pools that once emptied of water mass areas of tiles simply fall off the wall and causes more extreme damage, that undertaking these works sub surface was the best way to carry out these essential works.
