MMC Divers were approached by the Moorings Ltd, a group of homes that share a lock gate. During heavy rain falls and rising water levels the lock gate in the past has acted as a form of defence during extreme flooding, unfortunately lack of maintenance on the gate has caused water levels to penetrate into their homes.
MMC diving services were contracted to remove the old marine ply, temporarily remove the sluse gate, replacing it with new sealed marine ply, refitting, bonding and bolting the new panels using large stainless steel coach bolts.
The sluse was then replaced and a small amount of dredging carried out behind the gate using a shallow water venturi water pump, to allow easy operation of the gate.
