Client: Portsmouth International Ferry Port
Contractor: MMC Diving Services
Duration: 4 weeks

MMC Diving Services were awarded the tender to complete the installation of 69 anodes weighing approximately 80 kilos each. These works were part of the cathodic protection following the new quayside extension to berth 2 which was extended by 40m and had a further freestanding 'dolphin' mooring structure added. This new berth now enables the port to receive ships of up to 255m in length opening up more of the cruise market for the city of Portsmouth.
MMC's team consisted of underwater coded welders, burners and rope access technicians to install the anode test stations, our cross trained coded welder divers, IRATA access teams and telly handler operatives meant we could utilise our one inhouse team to move the anodes around the quayside, saving time, resources and money for our client.
Despite being stood down due to berthing requirements throughout the works, this project was completed ahead of schedule which enabled the berth to open up earlier than planned.
